Tips From The Coalface, March 2019
Every so often it’s important to stop and smell the coffee.
I know you know this, but when did you last do it; properly and in-depth.
I’ve just written a blog that comes out soon. It’s one of my Behind The Business blogs about a firm I’m working with right now.
Here are some of the financial highlights over the last 4 years:
• Total revenue is up by 88% - approaching £1.45M this year
• Client numbers are down from circa 2500 to 341
• Revenue per planner has increased 108%, up from £174,000 to £362,000
• Revenue per staff is up 37%
• Recurring revenue has increased 69%
• Net profit margins have increased significantly, moving into the 15% to 24% range - after everyone gets paid the full whack for their day job
I forwarded a copy of the article to the client for them to sign off. Here’s what the client sent back:
“I’m impressed with ourselves when you put the figures like that!”
The thing is, until they saw me summarise it all, they might not have felt so positive. It’s easy to get lost when you’re constantly in the thick of it.
Every so often it’s important to look back and see where you’ve come from.
