Jacqueline Lockie CFP™ Chartered FCSI, Deputy Head of Financial Planning, CISI provides an update for financial planning members
Hello everyone. Hope you are all enjoying the summer.
Financial Planning Annual Conference
You will have seen lots of marketing about this year’s annual financial planning conference. We now have over 260 booked and places are going fast now. So if you’ve been pondering whether to come along, don’t leave it too late. We would love to see you. You are the ones that will make the conference a success and help determine the future direction of financial planning.
Logging CPD
A few weeks ago Campbell sent you all a note explaining the changes to CPD as well as the requirement from July 2017 for all those who are CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals to log their CPD via the CISI’s MyCISI system. Several of you have contacted us being unhappy about this change and saying how much more work it will be for you to double-log information just to maintain your CFP™ status. The reason for the change is to bring us in line with the other FPSB CFP certification countries and streamline the process of auditing, to make the process smoother and quicker for you and less onerous as well as making it easier for us to report our findings to the FPSB. But you may not have known that you can export your CPD log from your systems in one go and import it straight into your MyCISI CPD log. So it doesn’t require you to double-log as you go, but will take just a few minutes to export from one place and import to MyCISI. To that end we are going to put together a short video guiding you through the process of doing this. I will post you a link in another blog in a few weeks.
Review magazine
We hope that you’ve now had chance to read the new magazine with your twelve pages of financial planning content, as we promised. We would like to hear your views about the magazine and will shortly be requesting formal feedback via a survey. As ever, if you have any comments in the interim please do send them over.
The next Review Magazine will arrive during the last week of September and I’m quite excited about it because our feature article is on the founder of the IFP, Paul Etheridge MBE. Read what he thinks about the future of financial planning in the UK.
Find events for you
We have received feedback that you have been finding it difficult to see what events are really financial planning related, as opposed to wealth management, etc. In response to this we have added a colour coded tag underneath the description on the links to these regular emails. Hopefully it will mean that you can see much easier what’s what. As a result of feedback for the IFP Financial Planning Professional Forum committee we are also going to embark on a review of these bulletins and colour coding to see if we can make it easier for you to see that they are financial planning related.
As always, your comments are welcome.
