Meeting the CySEC’s regulatory requirements

The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) adopted the ESMA Guidelines for the assessment of knowledge and competence, which were applicable as of 3 January 2018.

In a recent circular, the CySEC sent a reminder to regulated entities about complying with these Guidelines.

The Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) has agreed on a partnership with the CISI which will offer CIFA CISI Corporate Supporter status and two additional benefits:

  • A discount on membership of CISI for all CIFA members, which also includes a CISI joining fee waiver as part of the membership discount, and
  • Reciprocal complimentary membership for three individual members of each organisation for three years.
In addition, CISI and CIFA are committed to organising a joint Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event in Cyprus annually.

Academic Partner

In March 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the University of Central Lancashire Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus) and the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).

This agreement allows UCLan Cyprus students the opportunity to complement their internationally recognised academic qualifications with CISI vocational qualifications giving them a competitive edge in the global market.

UCLan Cyprus offers a wide range of accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including Law, Management and Accounting and Finance. This academic offer is supplemented by executive education at different levels, primarily through its School of Law which will start the process of embedding CISI certifications within and beyond the curriculum on offer at the School.
