New president for CISI Spain and Latin America National Advisory Council

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) has appointed Jesús Mardomingo, managing partner of Dentons’ banking and finance department in Spain, as president of the Institute’s National Advisory Council (NAC) for Spain and Latin America. Made up of prestigious professionals, the NAC supports the members of the professional body in Spanish-speaking countries and directs its activities in the development of professional standards for the financial profession in the region. In addition, it helps the Institute in the expansion of the certifying work in the assigned territory.

071222NewSpanishLatamNACpresidentJesusMardomingoJesús Mardomingo has been since managing partner of the banking and financial department of Dentons in Spain since 2015. He comes from Cuatrecasas, a firm in which he was also a partner for many years.

He has more than 30 years of experience in corporate advice to financial institutions and public administrations on commercial and regulatory issues, as well as in various types of corporate transactions in credit institutions, insurance companies and investment service companies. Mardomingo has worked in practically all relevant aspects of the financial sector, highlighting his special involvement in the restructuring of the Spanish financial sector, collaborating in the creation of the Sareb, and the conversion of savings banks into foundations, or his relationship with the digital transformation of the sector as a lawyer for the first online banks such as Uno-e or Inversis. He is also a great expert in investment funds, his actions being decisive in the elimination ofthe tax toll on these vehicles or advising on the first hedge fund registered in Spain.

Before joining the firm, he worked as a lawyer in the Legal Department of the Banking Corporation of Spain, years later in Argentaria and currently in BBVA.

He is recommended by Chambers Global and Chambers Europe as amongst the best lawyers in the world in the areas of Banking and Finance Law, and Fintech. He is also recognized by legal directories such as IFLR, Expert Guides, Best Lawyers, and Legal 500 for Banking and Finance, Investment Funds, Mercantile, and M&A.

He is a participant in specialized courses and seminars, author of several collective works, and a regular contributor to economic press and technical magazines in which he regularly publishes doctrinal articles related to his specialty. He is a professor and directs the Master’s Degree for Access to the Legal Profession and the Financial Markets Specialization Program at the Institute of Stock Market Studies (IEB, by its acronym in Spanish) while he directs the Institute’s area of sustainability and innovation.
