For the sixth year, CISI, the not-for-profit, global professional body for those working in financial planning, wealth management and capital markets is supporting World Financial Planning Day #WFPD2022 (WFPD) 5 October 2022. Organised by the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) the event takes place during the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ (IOSCO) World Investor Week (#IOSCOWIW2022) 3-9 October.
World Financial Planning Day raises awareness of the value of financial planning, of having a financial plan, and of working with a financial planner who has committed to competency and ethical standards, such as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional.
The CISI in the UK is part of the FPSB Network, which represents more than 203,000 CFPTM professionals worldwide. As part of WFPD 2022 the CISI has organised its annual Financial Planning Week #FPWUK, 3-9 October. This initiative demonstrates how financial planning can help individuals make financial decisions to achieve their life goals, now and into the future.
Sally Plant, Assistant Director Financial Planning and Education Development said: “Thinking ahead and planning for the future are key messages at the heart of these important global annual financial planning campaigns and we are delighted to support World Financial Planning Day and World Investor Week. Financial literacy is an essential part of wellbeing and mental fitness. In the UK this year the focus for our Financial Planning Week is to alert consumers to the importance of finding a professional, qualified financial planner to help them take control of their finances. We will be directing UK consumers to our new and improved find a financial planner Wayfinder website www.financialplanning. org.uk. This website allows consumers across the UK to search for their nearest CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional or Accredited Financial Planning FirmTM (AFPFTM). The aim is to put the power into the hands of the consumer, with tips and tools also featuring on the website for anyone to browse through.”
“During a time of global economic uncertainty, people may feel vulnerable and concerned about their finances and their futures,” said FPSB CEO Noel Maye. “World Financial Planning Day provides the global financial planning profession with the opportunity to educate the public about financial matters and demonstrate how financial planners who have committed to putting clients’ interests first, like CFPTM professionals, can help people navigate complex financial decisions to live their today and plan their tomorrow.”
