The UK’s community of Certified Financial Planner (CFPTM) professionals has come together to offer their advice pro bono in a series of money guides for the consumer, published by the CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment).
The guides, which contain tips from CISI’s CFPTM membership on managing finances during this uncertain and challenging time, have been produced to help all consumers, including those who are employed, self-employed and small business owners financially cope with one of the most difficult periods they are ever likely to navigate for themselves and their families.
The CISI CFPTM money guides are available free for consumers to download from the CISI Wayfinder website on Cisi.org/c19fp and cisi.org/c19fpbusiness.
The CISI’s Certified Financial Planners are part of a global community of over 186,000 professionals who regularly take part in pro bono initiatives, including the annual CISI Financial Planning Week, to encourage and promote consumer awareness on financial planning topics including debt management, preparing for an unexpected financial emergency, home ownership, building savings, investment planning and preparing for retirement.
The original idea to offer financial planning week style advice to the public came from an article produced by Will Robins, editor of Citywire NMA and a suggestion from one of CISI’s CFP professionals. Jacqueline Lockie, Chartered FCSI, CISI Head of Financial Planning said: “We’d like to thank Will, who raised the issue of our running a possible Emergency Financial Planning week event, given the Covid19 pandemic. Although our CFPTM community are very busy given their current client responsibilities, they jumped at the chance to support the sentiment, keen to offer their input for free to help build the money guides and support consumers. My thanks also goes to our Certified Financial Planner professionals for their input and support in creating these guides.
“Our money guides and accompanying artwork for social media tiles will also be made available as part of the UK CFPTM toolkit and across the global CFPTM community, so that those 186,000 CFPTM professionals in 27 countries and territories will be able to share this pro bono guidance with their consumer populations.
“The ethos of CISI’s annual Financial Planning Week is at the core of our Certified Financial Planning profession, with our planners offering free consumer guidance every year so that the life-changing benefits of a financial plan can be shared UK-wide. We hope consumers will find these money guides useful and helpful in terms of managing their personal finances during this worrying time.”
